Crisis Communications Planning

NC3C will host aone-day workshop on crisis communications planning from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 13 in Fayetteville.

Prior planning and preparation helps to keep you in charge when little else seems to be going well.

Kevin Arata, corporate communications director for Fayetteville and former director of public affairs for the U.S Army’s XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, will speak on lessons learned from crises and walk participants through the steps of creating a plan. Participants will receive a toolkit of resources they can use to create their own crisis SOP.

After lunch, PIOs from NC Public Safety (Emergency Management) will present on Joint Information Systems and how local and state PIOs can partner during emergencies. They will also share information about WebEOC—a tool used to coordinate communications during emergencies.

Following the presentation, the group will get an inside perspective of the new baseball field under construction by Fayetteville.

The workshop is open to all communications and emergency communications professionals in North Carolina. Lunch is provided, courtesy of your statewide public communicators organization which encourages its members to bring along someone new to NC3C.
